To-do list: Thanksgiving

10 am: pick up quiche at WSM (also crackers & vitamins)
12:20: neuro appointment

afterward:
- make parmesan crisps (oven @300)
- roast green beans (oven @350)
- bake & mash sweet potatoes (oven @400)
- thaw puff pastry, roll out & shape, refreeze
- make topping for sweet potato pudding
- soften ice cream & stir in bourbon & molasses

Tomorrow
9 am: prep pear tart (cook pears, cook filling)
10:30: tart in oven (400), prep sweet potato pudding
11:30: pudding in oven (350)
unknown time: put quiche in oven with pudding
12:30: pack everything up and go to the hotel

What to take
- cranberry sauce

- halved dried figs
- pudding
- quiche

- ice cream
- wine? corkscrew?
- beer?
- serving utensils?
- plates? (No idea what sort of/how many dishes this hotel kitchenette has)

Ooh, parmesan crisps sound intriguing. What goes into those?

Parmesan cheese. Optionally, pepper or chili powder. I used this recipe, and like people pointed out in comments, 300 degrees doesn't get them super crunchy. But since we have to transport them, I don't want them to fall apart in transit.

I'm using them as a substitute for pancetta in a pancetta crisps with goat cheese and figs recipe. I figure they'll give the same salty kick.

Goat cheese, figs, and parmesan crisps sound like an excellent combination. I hope they're as tasty as they sound! :)

We're leaving out the single arugula leaf (...) and fig jam ($), and we only have dried figs, since they're out of season now. But there was this recipe in Bon Appetit, and I thought it sounded awesome.

Ooh, I like the idea of mixing molasses and bourbon into ice cream.

It was in the 'quick and easy desserts' section in the November Bon Appetit. It calls for "light molasses," but screw that. I have blackstrap, and I'm gonna use it.

Whoa, you are busy. I am enjoying the no travel, no big plans Thanksgiving lifestyle. We're just going to hang out with some friends and eat Chinese food. Your food will be more delicious, I'm sure, though.

I like cooking and making fancy things, but we'd thought there'd be an oven in the hotel kitchenette so we could take things over cold and heat them there. Sadly untrue.

I do make delicious food, though.

Well, talking my parents and brother into coming down here was how we narrowly managed to *avoid* travel this Thanksgiving. It helped that when things were being planned, we had no idea whether we had any good way to get care for our diabetic cat while out of town without spending inordinate amounts of money.
