What I've eaten since I got out of the hospital, day by day. (cut for your convenience)
glass ginger ale (Schweppe's)
4 oz applesauce
handful m&ms
arugula & mesclun salad with EVOO & balsamic vinegar, water, more ginger ale
Tazo plum pomegranate green tea
Dole fruit cup
handful potato chips, hot dog roll (whole wheat)
more applesauce
result: didn't want solid food for breakfast Monday.
4 oz applesauce
bowl dry frosted mini wheats (over the course of about 3 hours)
unknown lunch
pizza for dinner (home)
result: did not note any nausea on symptom diary, but only wanted applesauce for breakfast.
applesauce
frosted mini wheats (see above)
WSM hummus & Med Deli pita for lunch
pizza (Pepper's white slice with spinach, artichoke hearts, and feta)
1 oz chocolate and ginger
result: no appetite next AM, despite having wanted to eat normal breakfast; fatigue in AM
Dole fruit cup
Stretch Island fruit leather (mango flavor)
dried pineapple ring (WSM)
instant miso soup (gluten free)
onigiri (sushi rice, rice vinegar, nori)
WSM hummus & Utz tortillas (corn, no soy, gluten free)
pizza (home)
result: stomach pain/gas at bedtime; nausea & fatigue in AM.
applesauce
ginger ale (Knudsen's)
Dole fruit cup
cinnamon spice black tea (Caribou)
Kind Fruit & Nut bar (apricot-almond) (gluten free, contains soy lecithin)
8 oz GF veggie stock
Blue Diamond hazelnut thins
result: 2 hours after fruit/nut bar, became nauseous. Took antacid, waited.
- Don't know whether antacid helped or if it just passed (which has been known to happen.)
- Lactobacillus capsules contain soy lecithin.
Could it be soy? That would be unfortunate. Soy is in every goddamn thing. It would be less annoying than wheat, anyway...

Date: 2010-08-17 12:17 am (UTC)From:I'm desperate for solutions at this point, and anything that might help I'm willing to try (within reason). I mean, I've heard everything from "my cousin had West Nile Virus, then she developed celiac disease" to "Did you eat something bad?" And I'm frustrated by this whole thing (obviously...)
And I understand that people are trying to express sympathy and empathy and all those things humans do, and I shouldn't be a callous jerk and throw that off, but it's like, sometimes things come across as "off the wall suggestion" and that's OK, because like I said, desperate (because all the obvious things have been tried and rejected), but sometimes it's more like the person doesn't quite get that there's this thing called "difference in scope and magnitude" (yet they're trying to be nice... so I shouldn't be a jerk...)
So it's all a big frustrating mess.

Date: 2010-08-13 01:08 pm (UTC)From:If I were you, I'd probably want to do an elimination diet with just rice for a bit and then slowly add in one thing at a time. Also, did you mention the cancer thing to your PCP?
