arugula & mesclun salad with EVOO & balsamic vinegar, water, more ginger ale

Dole fruit cup
handful potato chips, hot dog roll (whole wheat)
more applesauce

result: didn't want solid food for breakfast Monday.


4 oz applesauce
bowl dry frosted mini wheats (over the course of about 3 hours)
unknown lunch
pizza for dinner (home)

result: did not note any nausea on symptom diary, but only wanted applesauce for breakfast.

result: stomach pain/gas at bedtime; nausea & fatigue in AM.

result: 2 hours after fruit/nut bar, became nauseous. Took antacid, waited.
- Don't know whether antacid helped or if it just passed (which has been known to happen.)
- Lactobacillus capsules contain soy lecithin.

Could it be soy? That would be unfortunate. Soy is in every goddamn thing. It would be less annoying than wheat, anyway...

Are you drinking tap water? On one odd occasion, back when we lived in Raleigh, I had gastro-intestinal issues for about a week, much longer than virii usually last for me. I finally caught a pattern where it was being triggered when I drank tap water. Once I switched to bottled water, it cleared right up. After a few weeks it was fine to drink tap water again. ( Maybe something was blooming, or they were treating the water for something seasonal? )

It's a long shot, but that would be a lot less annoying that soy or wheat ...

I'm really sorry that, in saying this, I conflated a one-week illness with one that's been going on for two months. Obviously what's going on with you is much more serious. It wasn't my intention to diminish that, and I really regret that it came across that way.

Glad to hear we're good. :) And I totally get what you're saying about well-meant but irritating comments, that's totally a level of stress you don't need on top of everything else.

So this is kind of dumb and potentially unuseful, but the fruit and nut bar would be a much higher fiber thing than everything else you ate that day, and that could make your tender torn up GI tract more irritated because fiber basically goes in and scrapes at the walls. This is generally good when one isn't already ill, but I've known a lot of basically healthy people who've started a high fiber diet and gotten a lot of pain at first. Not saying this is what's going on, especially as the nausea is not really what I'd expect, but seemed worth noting.

If I were you, I'd probably want to do an elimination diet with just rice for a bit and then slowly add in one thing at a time. Also, did you mention the cancer thing to your PCP?
