So this is kind of dumb and potentially unuseful, but the fruit and nut bar would be a much higher fiber thing than everything else you ate that day, and that could make your tender torn up GI tract more irritated because fiber basically goes in and scrapes at the walls. This is generally good when one isn't already ill, but I've known a lot of basically healthy people who've started a high fiber diet and gotten a lot of pain at first. Not saying this is what's going on, especially as the nausea is not really what I'd expect, but seemed worth noting.

If I were you, I'd probably want to do an elimination diet with just rice for a bit and then slowly add in one thing at a time. Also, did you mention the cancer thing to your PCP?
