First off, we have a ref who throws a card at the slightest infraction, things that aren't even cardworthy. This results in Klose getting a second yellow at 36' and being sent off. Which puts the team a man down the rest of the game.
Second off, since Klose's gone, the strike team is Poldi. Who can't hit the side of a barn today, apparently. Though the Serbian goalie stopped the penalty kick, which would otherwise have been a goal. And the Serbian goal was on an error of the German defense.
Third off, where the hell was the organization? They started off well, then once Klose was ejected (and barred from the next match), it went to shit. Jogi looked like he'd pop a vein.
On the bright side, I can see why Özil is the Nationalelf's next great hope. He was everywhere, and it wasn't his fault if Poldi couldn't score off his assist. I'm glad he picked our side instead of Turkey.
The outcome of tomorrow's game between Ghana and Australia will be really important for the Germans, if they hope to advance. They won't be at the top of their group if Ghana beats Australia.
For the first time since 1986, the Germans' advance out of the group stage isn't assured. This is a weird feeling.
