Yuletide fics
28 Dec 2012 04:51 pmI admit, I don't read 90% of the fandoms on Yuletide. I don't know the source, most of the time. So here are the stories I read and enjoyed, in the reverse order in which I read/bookmarked them. Read the warnings before you read the fic, if that's how you roll.
Signature, Tiger & Bunny
Kotetsu had signed autographs before, but that was another thing that changed when Barnaby became his partner for the second time.
Starlings in Winter, Swordspoint, Richard/Alec
A consideration of what may have happened in between "Swordspoint" and "The Privilege of the Sword." As Richard's eyesight deteriorates, Alec is forced to hire a new swordsman. Attempting to cheer him up, Alec suggests a trip to Highcombe, but things do not go as planned.
finding birdland, Sakamichi no Apollon, Kaoru/Sen (post-series)
Sentarou finishes his cleaning duties as fast as he can most days, and every time he wanders over, Kaoru greets him with a put-upon frown that always eases into a smile, wide and familiar.
The Center Cannot Hold, Rise of the Guardians, Pitch/Jack
Jack was the one to eventually break the silence. He said softly, "I see it. What you're saying. My center… it's the same. We both laughed just now, right? But did you laugh because the children were having fun playing in the water… or because it was funny as hell when the girl pushed the boy in?"
A Cup of Kindness Yet, Patlabor
Goto and Nagumo prepare for the New Year.
The Last Magic, The Dark is Rising (fix-it fic)
Jane grows up.
Vale of Fhidhen, CJ Cherryh's Morgaine cycle
Somewhere ahead, there is a gate. There always is. All that matters is closing it. Nothing can get in the way of that, not for Morgaine, and not for Nhi Vanye i Chya.

And not a Yuletide fic, but one I really enjoyed: This bullet lodged in my chest, covered with your name, Marvel's Avengers (movie/comics), Natalia/Winter Soldier, Natasha/Bucky
Some of Natasha’s memories are true, some are false, but throughout all of them runs one thread of remembrance: a cool metal hand gentle upon her back, tender against her cheek, tight around her throat; an assassin with a crooked smile and eyes like winter.
