It may not be a smart thing. I volunteered to help table for the Spokane in 2015 WorldCon bid.

They want me to go to StellarCon, RavenCon, and Balticon (March, April, May). I may go up to Capclave this October. (I'd take the train up for the DC/Balto ones; driving is horrid. For either of those, depending on my job situation, I'm thinking of extending a day or so on either side to visit friends & family & couchsurf around DC.)

I'd need roommates, too, though, with the no income thing, so I can keep my spending down. Stellar should be easy enough to get roommates for, since ConTemporal is probably going to be running a table & throwing a room party. Raven and Balti, though, I don't know. Definitely would need to share with someone(s). Those are still a long way off, though.

Friends don't let friends volunteer for conventions. :/

Well, I'm certainly not going to Balticon since it conflicts with WisCon (which is sad, because I'd love to be there for the Filk GoH/Featured Filkers). I've been vaguely debating Capclave but haven't seriously looked at the possibility.

I looked more closely at the dates of Capclave and realized, oh hey, that's the weekend I'm supposed to be going to the Carolina Renaissance Festival with the con I'm actually staffing. :/ And was thinking of inviting my sister down for. And am kind of the only person who volunteered to take point for tickets and stuff. So I may have to tell the bid people "er, I looked at my calendar and realized I had plans already, um. Sorry."

(I volunteer for things. It seems to be a bad habit.)

I wish BaltiCon weren't Memorial Day weekend. I'd like to go to Wiscon someday, and it's also Animazement weekend here in Raleigh. But! I'm definitely including ReaderCon in my plans for next year. (I can't really afford to fly to multiple conventions in a year, so it's ReaderCon *or* Wiscon for me. Maybe if I get a job that'll change, but it introduces the problem of vacation time. Oh life, why are you so complicated?)

Yeah, there's all too often the time/money tradeoff; when you have time to (go to cons, learn to fly, etc) you can't afford to and once you have the money there's never enough time off to do it.

I assume you're going to StellarCon. Balticon is the same weekend as Animazement. I'm guessing Markell or someone is going up to RavenCon, so I can ride up & split a room with them. The latter two seem to be more literary focused, and I thought you weren't interested in that.

Did you get to Walgreens yet?
