I just think there should be a general amnesty towards people who offer people who give them unsolicited advice a slap in the face with a wet fish.

I was talking about this with my husband last night. He said he doesn't care about receiving unsolicited advice, and it occurred to me that this could stem from a position of privilege. All the people I can think of who've explicitly stated an allergy to unsolicited advice are female. (Which, of course, doesn't mean that all women are allergic or that no men are.)

I posited that it was a reaction to society thinking that women's bodies are public property, so everyone thinks it's OK to tell us what to do, what to wear, how to comport ourselves in public, SMILE!, what to eat, whether we should have children, etc etc ad fucking infinitum.
