So, today was an editing day, wherein I got to fix a scene for continuity and tweak a few sentences. Net word count: -5.
Azar walked behind the couch and pointed to a picture on the wall. “Do you remember this?”
Atesh looked at it. His parents stood next to hers, and Atesh stood in front of them. Yildiz and Azar were held by their respective mothers. “I couldn’t forget.”
“When I was young, I looked at this picture and wondered what my cousins were doing. I dreamed of escaping on a starship and having adventures with you two, because surely anything you could do off this station was exciting.” Azar turned a wry smile on Atesh. “It was very silly.”
Is it dorky that the two cousins' names both mean "fire" in their respective languages? Interesting that in Persian, it's a girl's name, and in Turkish, it's a boy's. (Hikaru means light, though I wasn't thinking about that when I named her. I was thinking of Hikaru Ichijo, because I'm a giant fucking nerd.)
