To do, to do...

Tomorrow's Christmas Eve, so if I want to get any groceries before like Sunday, I have to do it before I think 6 pm tomorrow. This means I have to figure out some stuff, like what I need to get and what I want to make.

I want to make mulled wine, because it's awesome. I have a single bottle of pomegranate wine, but the recipe I think I used last time calls for 2. I'll also need oranges, OJ, and cinnamon sticks.

After I saw this recipe for cinnamon rolls, I knew I had to make it. I need more flour, probably, and more light brown sugar. (I think I only have dark at the moment.) I'm debating whether I actually need whole milk or if I can use skim. I should also see if I have a Tbsp of cardamom in my container. (I have a ton of five spice, but Ben doesn't like anise, or otherwise I'd just use that. Yum.) If I do a frosting on it, I'll probably do a cream cheese one, which means I should still get powdered sugar anyway.

Last year, Ben and I made French toast with challah (left over from the most amazing bread pudding) and eggnog, which was delightful. (Mix an egg in with some eggnog, dredge the bread, and cook as usual.) We have eggnog, but no challah, and I think with the cinnamon rolls, we won't need more bread products.

I should find some veggie breakfast sausage stuff. The morning carbs will need some protein to go with them.

We're planning to do atheist Christmas by following the fine Jewish tradition of watching a movie and going out for Chinese food. (We're debating at present which DVD to put in, though I'd be up for catching Tron again. Still not in IMAX, and preferably not 3D. It was very shiny, and the people were very pretty and in nice, tight clothes.) picklish and ranyart will be missed, but we'll enjoy our Jade Palace meal and think of you.

I also have to figure out if we need regular groceries before Sunday, though I think we should be OK. Ben is going to pick up some more cans of Weruva's Asian Fusion, since Claire ate that with gusto this morning. She wasn't keen on the chicken soup variety (I can't blame her, it had PEAS), and she was more interested in the Polynesian BBQ, but it had chunks that she had trouble eating. The seafood varieties have a little more protein and PO4 than the poultry varieties, but if we can't get her to eat the chicken, it doesn't do us much good. Maybe once she's back to eating normally and she doesn't associate chewing with pain, we can try the chicken ones again.

I'm hungry, though, and Ben won't be home for another hour or so, since he's swinging by Chapel Hill on his way. Boo.

Miss you both! We're going to go out and grab some Chinese food tomorrow too, but it won't be the same. *sniff*

Ben wanted to commit heresy and go to Tandoor, if they're open. We'll see about that.

She really seems to like the Asian Fusion cans. The chunks aren't too big, and it's not all pate-like. She's always preferred fish, so it's not surprising. (The Polynesian BBQ smelled good enough to eat. I halfway seriously considered eating some.)

They're apparently opening on in Raleigh soon, just so you know. I got a postcard from them about it! You should definitely go when it opens.

I would just go dark brown sugar because a little extra molasses flavor never hurt anything! But that's just me.

What showing would you be interested in for Tron? I'm assuming Timberlyne because I ♥ that theater. I still haven't found someone to see Tron with me, so I'm hoping to be your +1 if Ben is absolutely set on IMAX.

I prefer the Lumina, usually; their seating is better and their concessions aren't ridiculously overpriced. Ben's complaining, though, so I don't know what we'll actually end up doing.

No complaining, just pondering, since I'd kind of like to see it in IMAX and not sure if I really need to see it three times... but I'm not really excited about driving out to an IMAX showing all by myself, either, so it depends if someone else wants to go...

(I mean, I suppose theoretically maybe Kevin and I could go see it in IMAX at the same time you and Jennie see it at the Lumina, but that's sounding a little hard to coordinate. I suppose I could actually look up some times, though...

On Saturday the Lumina has it a 4:00pm and the new Cary IMAX has a 4:05.)

Tonight our plan is to open presents (all 3 of them) and drink mulled wine, so perhaps driving isn't the best idea... But once we figure out what we're doing tomorrow regarding food and/or movies, I can let you know.
