I find console-based RPGs unspeakably dull and tedious, with the grinding and talking to people and the item optimization and stuff. But give me a fighting game that has taken all the story bits out of arcade mode and dumped them into scenario mode, wherein you take your fighter and an assistant and beat up hordes of enemies, and I'll put in 20 hours in 3 days, grinding and getting items.

(Yeah, I have Tekken 6 now. I've mostly finished scenario mode, except 2 hidden areas - the ones that unlock Mokujin (HARD! OMG!) and Devil Jin (HOLYSHIT this is HARD as FUCK.) I found an item that gives Lee Chaolan an extra 300 life, and that's the only way I made it to the bottom of the level full of ninjas to get Yoshimitsu unlocked.)

In other news, I had a party last night, and it was fun. It was the latest I've had a party over in ages -- there were still half a dozen people here until almost 2 am. Of course, I'm wiped today, because I still woke up after 5-6 hours of sleep at the time my body said "Hey it's wakey time, get up now!"

Improvised garlic knots were OK; I still need to experiment with those. Meringue ghosts were win. Two growlers of Shotgun Betty were enough; 1 would have been too little. I still had a pint left in the second, so I finished it off with lunch.

Pepper Dog Salsa, from Apex, NC, is tasty, but revise your selection down. The medium was too spicy for me to enjoy thoroughly. It was good, but very hot.

I'm supposed to be rewriting the first chapter of this damn novel, but I'm mired in worldbuilding still. Some of it isn't highly important at this stage, so I can do both.

I'd like to take a nap, really. Or go grind some more levels with Lee. I played with Hwoarang a lot already.

Have you, by any chance, played any of the Guilty Gear games? Er, the fighting ones, not Overture. I absolutely love it, both for the plot and characters. ........ I'm shit at the actual fighting aspect of it though, lol. XD

Tekken's always had a plot, as tenuous and ridiculous as it may be ;) The Mishima family puts the fun back in dysfunctional. But, yeah, I'm digging the action-style mob fight mode. I need to tear myself away from it and get cracking on the writing. I'm way behind my target word count to get a first draft by the end of January.

I haven't played Guilty Gear at all! I do Namco fighters because I can deal with the controller input better than, say Capcom (Street Fighter) games.

We saw Shotgun Betty at WSM today, but it looks like it's only in growler form for now, which is way too much for us to drink in the span of a day or two. Hopefully they'll have it in bottles soon.

Yeah, 4 pints is a lot for 2 people to drink in 24 hours, unless they're partying. I'm not sure Lone Rider has plans to do bottles. When I looked at their website before, they didn't list 6-packs.

If you want a RPG that really knows how to cut to the chase, I'd try Half Minute Hero. NO RPG, console or PC can beat this one when it comes to cutting the crap out.

I might have picked that up for us, but we have no PSP. I kind of wish they'd let you emulate downloadable PSP games on the PS3, but of course they'll never do that for fear of cutting into PSP sales.

No kidding. Geez, they let you do that for PS1 games. I agree with this, especially since hand helds can be so ow ow ow on the hands. The fact the PSP Go can use a PS3 controller and then I think it can show the game on a real TV via the PS3 makes it tempting...GRRRRRR

I've seen Pepper Dog at Weaver Street for sure, but it might even be in some Harris Teeters around town.

Their Xtra-Hot stuff is fucking amazing, if you're prepared for it.

Given what I thought of the medium, Xtra-Hot is probably not a good idea. But I will happily grab some of their wimpier varieties.

It's on sale at WSM the month of November, for about $1.50 off regular price. We'll probably pick up a jar or 2 of the mild in the next few weeks. (I stock up when something I'll use is at a good price.)

Have to agree with the RPG thing; I've never been a huge fan of all the grinding...although I also can spend 20 minutes trying to solve a puzzle in Zelda. >_> I really like playing Guilty Gear tho; shiny flashy crack-fighting wee!

I never played Guilty Gear. I'm a Namco fighter girl - I can do the controllers. Give me Street Fighter and I die really quickly.
