I've mostly been blathering on under f-lock in my livejournal, working out plot points and that sort of thing.

I finished Blue Danube Waltz and submitted it on Wednesday. It clocked in at 26,200 words, approximately half of which were completely rewritten after July 20. But it really needed it, and it's a much better story, with more conflict and everything. Huzzah.

The submission window closes tomorrow, and they said final decisions will be made by 8/31. So I won't have too long to freak out before getting a shiny rejection letter. (Obviously I want them to take it, or else I wouldn't have written the stupid thing. But I've learned to temper my hopes with a large dose of cynicism, because that makes it hurt less.)

A 750-word short story I wrote made it to the last round for a magazine, but was rejected. One person loved it, one person hated it, and the rest thought it was good but not quite good enough. So I'll have another look at it, now that I have some time again, and see if there's anything I can tweak before sending it in somewhere else. I have a place in mind, so I'll get on that.

And I need to get my ass in gear and get started on my Hungary costume for Dragon*Con, which is in OMG, 3.5 weeks. Crap?

Right, grab a bite of something, then Tandoor for dinner at 6. Yum.
