1445 words for the day, and I've got about 22,000 total. I have 2 scenes to write, and I need to come up with 3000 words between them. I might have to add another scene somewhere and/or expand some others. I've set 1500-word targets for most scenes, and the last 2 I've done are only about 1000 each.
But! It looks like I'll be able to wrangle something like a finished first draft by Sunday, so I can send it off to my awesome beta reader and sit on it for a couple weeks before giving it a final polish or two and sending it off. (Oh yeah, and synopsizing the bastard. That spells doom.)
I'm still anxiously awaiting rejection of the flash piece I submitted. It's been since 6/19, which is, uh, just under 2 weeks now? And it was about a month between hearing about the first cut and the second, so I hope I don't have to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks. (I would, of course, prefer if they bought my story. But being pessimistic has its advantages at times.) It's been 100 days, according to my Duotrope's submission tracker.
And I submitted a short story to another online mag for their alternate history issue. I wonder if they'll buy it. They say 60-day max turnaround.
Right. Off to see about returning some moldy bread and go to taiji class.
