feuervogel: (writing)
So. I'm planning a short story to submit to Crossed Genres in June, when they're doing alternate history. (SWEET!) I know what it's going to be about and have a general idea for how it's going to work. So, a question:

Short story told as newspaper article/obituary/journal entry: overdone? Because that's how this story has presented itself, and I think it's not going to cooperate otherwise.

A mix focusing more on the journalism and obituaries sounds good. Things that are done simply in journal entries are a bit overdone, especially for short stories. But I don't see enough well done fictional journalistic style writing. And a mix could be very interesting, actually. I have only seen it in novel length works.
