I sort of got out of the habit, and I thought I was boring/spamming everybody, so I stopped.

When last I mentioned it a week ago, I was at 10,700 words. Today I'm at 16613, and I've done 1825 for the day, including a bit of editing that involved deleting almost 1000 words. (The plot told me it didn't want to go where I'd outlined it, the ungrateful bastard.) The scene to replace it was being difficult, so I moved on to the next one. It doesn't build on it, so that's OK.

9000 left until I hit the minimum length for the call.

Two writing days left this week, then I go to Asheville for 4 days. Monday I'm going to Fayetteville for work (work!), then I have probably the entirety of that week, unless I sign up for work. I'd like to have the first draft completed by 4 July, so I may wait until after that to take assignments. Lucky for me, I get to choose which ones I want from a schedule.

So that's, what, 6-7 writing days until then. If I focus, I can do it. I kept being distracted by stupid shit like which fighter planes the German air force uses, and which one I should base the space fighters off of. Which is completely and utterly irrelevant to this story. Seriously!

I've gotten everything else taken care of, though, like editing another short story I plan to submit this month (and revising it a lot) and beta reading an acquaintance's novel. So I didn't spend any time on BDW over the weekend, which is fine, because sometimes you need to do something else.

Right now, that's going to be reading Joe Haldeman's The Forever War until bedtime.
