My original 1:15 flight to JFK was canceled, and I was automatically rebooked on the 4pm flight. Which was subsequently canceled. So now I'm flying from Raleigh to Atlanta to Paris to Frankfurt, and not getting dinner (special meals require 24 hours notice) or an economy comfort seat (which they will refund me for, at least).

I won't get to my final destination (Mannheim) until 12:15 at the earliest (assuming no delays and speedy immigration control (which, huh, I guess I'll have in Paris, since Schengen means you don't need border controls? idk?)) or 13:15 if anything keeps me from getting the train at 11:51 (my flight lands at 11:25.)

All I'll want to do is take a fucking shower.

The good news is, depending on the hour in Atlanta, there should be plenty of options to pick up carry-on food, at least. I usually have a spate of Clif bars with me when I travel, for just such emergencies.

Paris CDG is a bit of a nightmare if you're a transit passenger, so it's quite possible you'll have to wave a passport at someone at some point (if you pass from terminal to terminal) there, but I'd expect that immigration proper will be done in Frankfurt because to the best of my knowledge Schengen only applies between two Schengen signatory states.

Trains don't usually care so much (yachts don't give a damn; I've never been asked to produce a passport when I've sailed into a different country, which I've done a few times) but there's a peculiarity at Paris CDG where one transit between two terminals involves going through security again, and there I have had to show a passport.

But if you're not going to be in Paris itself, just the airport I wouldn't worry too much about the language
