feuervogel: (food)

I signed up for SparkPeople about 3 weeks ago, because I couldn't figure out where I was going wrong in my quest to lose weight. I gained 2.5 lbs after I started a strength training program, and I was annoyed.

So now I'm calorie counting, which is a serious pain in the ass, but it's helped me keep track of what I'm eating. (I'd overestimated the amount burned by weight lifting, it turns out.) I've lost the weight I gained, and I can almost fit into last winter's jeans again, though not very comfortably.

I've always hated my thighs. They're huge. If they followed the shape started by the first few inches of thigh, I'd be ok with that, except they flare out and make buying pants nearly impossible. Like, if I find pants that fit around my thighs and have enough give that I can sit down in them, the waist is 2 sizes too big.

When I was sick in 2010, I lost 15 pounds because I couldn't eat (and because what I ate wouldn't stay down). That put me around 135, which is still "overweight" for my 5'2" body, but it's a weight I'm happy at. I gained it all back, of course, so now I'm doing the cardio/weight lifting/calorie counting thing.

I've lost size already, in the hip and underbust. (Fucking joy, I tell you; I don't want to buy new bras now and have to buy new bras again later. So I'll keep wearing these. The last time I lost weight, I went up a cup size, and if that trend continues, I'm heading to import-bras-from-England territory. Because I'm sure I'm going down a band size this time, and right now I'm a 36D.)

I'm doing 30 minutes on my elliptical twice a week, upper body lifting one day a week, and lower body lifting another. Plus tai chi class once a week. (I need to get better about practicing tai chi during the week.)

And this time, once I lose the weight, I'm going to keep up exercising so I can bloody maintain it.
