For the record, I said you liked Gato because he was the only person in universal century who started with a set goal and actually accomplished it. Everyone else was wrapped up in stupid teenager BS or flailing rookie "hope he turns out to be a Newtype" nonsense. Gato, by contrast, hijacked a Gundam, nuked the Earth fleet, and started a massive conflict that resulted in wiping out a big chunk of the Northeastern Hemisphere's food supply. He was such a dangerous badass that the Feddies formed the hardass Titans in response.
He did all of that with a mech that was technically inferior to the protagonist's Gundam. It was larger, slower, and designed for the express purpose of launching a nuclear warhead, yet he managed to constantly outdo the faster mech in hand-to-hand combat.
Simply put, he's the only professional who actually gets the job done without any of the overly dramatic emotional bullshit that usually undermines the heroes and villains.
