How can I be homesick for a city I visited twice and lived in for a month?

My practical nature keeps me from doing something incredibly stupid. That, and I'd probably never see most of my friends or family again -_- (What would I do with my house? And my cats? And Ben? And how would we both find work, let alone get work visas? And it would only make getting to conventions 1000x more annoying & expensive, and ... *sigh*)

Clearly you need to be the next JK Rowling, and then you will be able to afford all the travel and visitor-hosting and so forth. This plan cannot fail amirite?

I'd settle for a few months at a time, really. And if it includes the soccer season, even better.
