Revision post
17 Mar 2011 05:34 pmSo, today I took myself off to the coffee shop to be one of Those People who take their laptops to coffee shops to work on their novels. The change of scenery was beneficial, however, because I got one scene revised.
I added 200 words to it, almost entirely expository. If I add 200 words to each scene in The Novel, I'll add about 15,000 more. (25 chapters, each with about 3 scenes.) That would get me up to 90k. I don't think it'll be quite that easy, but we'll see.
I also need to make B a more prominent character so people care when he dies, which means I'll have to add a few more scenes, probably.
If I concentrate and get through 1-2 scenes a day, I can have this draft finished by July. That could be awesome. We'll see how it goes. I'll probably never hit Elizabeth Bear-levels of daily word count, but I have a husband whose income I can mooch off of, so I don't have to attempt to support myself through writing. (Though pharmacy shifts would be REALLY NICE, if I could get them. $300 after taxes for an 8-hour day, man. If I get stuck in retail, it's 10 or 12 hours.)
