I took the laptop to the coffee shop today, and I was doing fairly well until this guy started talking to me.
Still, I added 450 words, in the same scene from yesterday and was beset by a meta-fictional idea. One of the characters is discussing a paper he wrote in high school, about the merchants' rebellion and the effects that had on the autonomy movements in the space colonies. I'd like to finish these revisions so I can get my application in to VP by the end of January at the latest. Then, maybe, I can tackle this meta wossname.
Anybody know if fictional meta-essays are considered publishable by short fiction markets? I know there's a story at Strange Horizons told in a news reportage style, but this would be more the history-type paper. Probably too boring & meta for short fiction zines... Thoughts?
