I werked today.

After a good bit of epic cat vacuuming (washed laundry, cleaned the windows, cleaned the cases of some DVDs & CDs that had cat something on them so I can sell them, put up some cute LED stars I bought at Ikea yesterday, assembled the new chair I bought at Ikea yesterday) and some cat waxing (FarmVille, bejeweled, making Turkish coffee), I got started. Around 4:30 pm. With an hour-ish break for dinner.

Today's word count: 1303

I think I should move my daily goal to 1500 for now, then up to 2000 once I start achieving 1500 consistently. Mostly I just need my ass to focus and not get distracted by the Vorkosigan fanfic at AO3. Alternately, to use it as a reward.

Interestingly enough, when I wrote the RD for the novel I'm editing right now, I also had a 1500-word-a-day goal, and a tip I thought I'd share was--always hit that goal. I found that if I stopped even just a eighty words from 1500, hitting the full 1500 the next day was hard.

I don't know if that's true for you, but I know it was for me.

I had to look up "cat waxing" to see if it meant what I assumed it did. Huh. That's an amusing bit of writing slang.
