I think you're capable of commenting on something outside your usual genre without saying "you don't know how to write; you don't even know what science fiction is," which is what Mr. Only-Reads-Hard-SF said, pretty much verbatim. So it's not so much an issue with people reading outside their preferred genre as with said people insulting me rather than accept that other subgenres exist and are valid.
