I *think* the motif thingy is an overlaid separate piece. (It changes based on rank.) There's a cosplay website (on ebay) that has it attached to the cape, which makes a lot of sense, imo. http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Gundam-0083-Stardust-Memory-Anavel-Gato-Cosplay-Costume-/270547507748#ht_2331wt_907

(I also own the ripple bodice pattern, because I used it for a costume two years ago.)
