word count of the day

I don't remember if I updated after the last time I wrote, and I'm too lazy to check.

Scrivener has a new feature which lets you set a deadline in your "project targets" section. I have my word count target set to 90,000, and my current word count is 76,053. I set a due date of July 1, and Scrivener calculated how many words per day I have to write to hit that target (assuming I write every day, of course.) I think it's kind of cool, and I appreciate having "95 days" sitting there taunting me.

I pretty much only get work done if there's a deadline.

So today I added 304 words (net) in one scene, mostly descriptions and making the expository bits less summary and more describey.

I need a title for a future space action movie series (think future Michael Bay) that's better than "Star Warriors." I got a suggestion on twitter of "Stellar Bellum," which I appreciate as a play on words, but it seems too erudite for what I'm looking for. They're about a band of scrappy action heroes who save Earth/the galactic colonies from invading aliens/terrists/pirates/whatever. They're referenced as a way for our heroes to spend a few hours relaxing. (And commented on as "easier than real life, because you know who the bad guys are" by one of our heroes.)

Glad you like it! (I was quite pleased with myself for thinking of it last night; in fact, now I kinda want to see that movie. Perfect brainless summer fare.)

I have no idea if your fictional universe actually contains space-to-ground paratroops, like David Weber's ultra-elite "drop commandos" or Heinlein's Marine-like "capsule troopers", but I figure it would be a popular combat fantasy whether it's real or not.
