I've had triptans for classic migraine with aura, and this isn't that. It's not a cluster, either -- I don't have a headache at all. Maybe a little back of the head, but nothing I'd even need ibuprofen for. It's like a migraine prodrome mixed in with aura and migraine hangover all at the same time, without the joy of an icepick being lodged in your skull.

I'm being evaluated for migraine variant (basilar, abdominal, silent...) and some of them are absolute contraindications for triptans. There aren't any abortive treatments for them, only preventives (TCAs, seizure drugs, SSRIs, blood pressure meds, etc.) Blood pressure meds are a non-starter for me (my BP lives around 95/60), and the side effects of anti-depressants make them a no-go (I have no libido as it is; I don't need to add dysfunction into the mix).
