I went to BayCon once; it was OK. It overlaps with WisCon, which has higher priority.
Seriously, though, travel expenses + hotel are the biggest part of the con budget, and I'd prefer to go to cons I can drive/carpool to easily. California's just not on my radar, for reasons similar to why WorldCon next year is an extreme longshot.
