Your DG corset will be fine for the 1860s shape - I don't think the shape changed that much between 1860 and 1880. Mostly it's giving you hip shaping that you don't need in an 1860s ballgown, but that won't make it look wrong.

We should try to arrange things so that I can fit your bodice on you! Are you going to be in the Bay Area any time in the next year?
