The person who made the first statement, that it's uninteresting, said that it's because homophobia is part of LGBT history, and he can't relate to characters who don't have that history or that struggle. (I asked him on twitter.) Which, fine, whatever floats your boat.

The issue is, most likely, that he left off "to me" from the end of his statement.
